{"id":4862,"date":"2017-12-10T05:28:45","date_gmt":"2017-12-10T12:28:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/margie\/?p=4862"},"modified":"2019-01-11T13:08:18","modified_gmt":"2019-01-11T20:08:18","slug":"roasted-balsamic-onions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/margie\/roasted-balsamic-onions.html","title":{"rendered":"Roasted Balsamic Onions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Dark, sweet-tart balsamic vinegar adds tangy depth to roasted\u00a0onions.\u00a0 A very sophisticated addition to your dinner party.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 pound onions (any kind, but if they are large cut in quarters)<\/li>\n<li>1 c balsamic vinegar (not the best stuff)<\/li>\n<li>4 Tab olive oil<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp chopped rosemary or thyme<\/li>\n<li>1 Tab chopped garlic<\/li>\n<li>2 Tab brown sugar<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Directions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Preheat the oven to 350\u00b0<\/li>\n<li>In a large bowl, toss the onion quarters with the olive oil, balsamic vinegar, sugar, garlic and rosemary.<\/li>\n<li>Place in large baking dish.<\/li>\n<li>Cover.<\/li>\n<li>Roast 20 minutes or until onions are soft.<\/li>\n<li>Uncover and cook 5 &#8211; 10 minuets more or until liquid is almost evaporated and onions are browned.<\/li>\n<li>Cool.<\/li>\n<li>Store covered in the refrigerator.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Serves:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>4<\/p>\n<p><strong>Source:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>Greg Strickland, Executive Chef, Vi Highlands Ranch<br \/>\nTrue balsamic vinegar is made by aging boiled Trebbiano grape juice in barrels for 12 to 25 years and can cost $50 to more than $200.
