{"id":4892,"date":"2017-12-01T12:40:23","date_gmt":"2017-12-01T19:40:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/margie\/?p=4892"},"modified":"2017-12-01T12:41:08","modified_gmt":"2017-12-01T19:41:08","slug":"bones-never-fail-never-burn-spareribs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/margie\/bones-never-fail-never-burn-spareribs.html","title":{"rendered":"Bones &#8211; Never Fail, Never Burn Spareribs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>The problem with spareribs is they have to cook too long to reach a safe temperature.\u00a0 When you barbecue\u00a0with a sauce this means a lot of burned surface &#8211; not good!\u00a0 This method avoids that problem.\u00a0 It also speeds up the process because you can bake them early in the day and bless them on the barbecue\u00a0them at dinner time.\u00a0 (or freeze them and take them on a camp out.\u00a0 Just finish them on the grill.)\u00a0 This also works with chicken.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>63 lbs spareribs<\/li>\n<li>salt and pepper<\/li>\n<li>1 gal barbecue sauce<\/li>\n<li>64 oz catsup<\/li>\n<li>3 cups of bourbon<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Directions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Sprinkle the whole side of ribs with salt and pepper.<\/li>\n<li>Place in a shallow pan and bake in a hot oven (400\u00b0) for 40 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Drain off all the fat from the pan.<\/li>\n<li>Combine remaining ingredients.<\/li>\n<li>Pour over ribs.<\/li>\n<li>Lower oven to 350\u00b0 and bake ribs 1 1\/2 hours longer or until tender.<\/li>\n<li>Cut apart to serve. \u00a0(I sometime cut them before cooking &#8211; easier serving.)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>(After baking you can bless them on the barbecue for that smoky taste.
