All you do is wrap a wheel(any size) of brie in a thawed sheet of puff pastry and bake until golden.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1\u00a0sheet\u00a0puff pastry,\u00a0thawed<\/li>\n<li>flour, for rolling<\/li>\n<li>1\u00a0round brie cheese (8 to 12 ounces, 5- to 7-inch diameter)<\/li>\n<li>1\u00a0large egg, beaten<\/li>\n<li>optional variations<\/li>\n<li>baguette slices or crackers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Directions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Preheat\u00a0the oven to 400\u00b0.<\/li>\n<li>Place an oven rack in the middle position.<\/li>\n<li>Dust your counter with a small amount of flour.<\/li>\n<li>Unwrap your puff pastry and place it on the counter.<\/li>\n<li>Rub your rolling pin with a little flour. (What, no rolling pin &#8211; use a wine bottle or other round container)<\/li>\n<li>Roll the puff pastry until it measures roughly 11 inches by 11 inches.<\/li>\n<li>Place the round of brie in the middle of the pastry.<\/li>\n<li>Top with any optional extra toppings, if using.<\/li>\n<li>Fold the corners over the brie, forming a neat package.<\/li>\n<li>Use your hand to gently press the edges against the brie and neaten up the sides.\u00a0\u00a0If you ended up wheel that&#8217;s too large for the pastry to totally wrap the wheel, just bunch the pastry inwards as well as you can; leave the middle exposed and call it &#8220;rustic.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Transfer the wrapped brie to\u00a0an oven proof dish\u00a0or pie plate.\u00a0If the pastry has warmed and is no longer cool to the touch at this point, place the tray in the fridge for 10 minutes, or until you&#8217;re ready to bake (even the next day)and serve.\u00a0\u00a0Brush with egg wash just before baking.<\/li>\n<li>For a shinny, golden brown crust brush the pastry all over with the beaten egg. Be sure to get the sides and around the folds. Try not to let the egg puddle under the brie.\u00a0 It can be baked without the egg it just won&#8217;t be shinny.<\/li>\n<li>Bake until golden-brown, 35 to 40 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Allow to cool 5 to 10 minutes:\u00a0This gives the hot cheese time to firm up a little and not burn your guests.<\/li>\n<li>Arrange sliced baguette or crackers around the brie and serve while warm.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Baked Brie Variations:<\/strong><br \/>\nTop with a few spoonfuls jam or preserves, like raspberry jam, apricot jam, or jalape\u00f1o jelly.<br \/>\nTop with honey and nuts: especially almonds, walnuts or pecans.<br \/>\nTop with a few spoonfuls of store-bought or\u00a0homemade\u00a0cranberry sauce.\u00a0 (whole berry, not jellied)<br \/>\nSlice or chop any tart baking apple and cook with butter over low heat until soft and warmed through. Scoop on top of the brie.<br \/>\nSlowly caramelize one onion\u00a0over low heat\u00a0until very brown, soft, and sweet-tasting. You can stir in a few teaspoons of brown sugar or balsamic vinegar if you like.
