{"id":5828,"date":"2018-05-01T05:25:59","date_gmt":"2018-05-01T11:25:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/margie\/?p=5828"},"modified":"2018-05-01T05:25:59","modified_gmt":"2018-05-01T11:25:59","slug":"stuffed-french-toast-casserole","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/margie\/stuffed-french-toast-casserole.html","title":{"rendered":"Stuffed French Toast Casserole"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Breakfast made the night before is never a bad thing!<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 container (8 oz)\u00a0 cream cheese spread<\/li>\n<li>1 loaf (1 lb) French bread (about 18 inches long), cut into 24 (3\/4-inch-thick) slices<\/li>\n<li>4 eggs<\/li>\n<li>1 c milk<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 c sugar<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 tsp salt<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 tsp ground cinnamon<\/li>\n<li>2 Tab butter<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Topping:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>3 cups fresh strawberries<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 c sugar<\/li>\n<li>2 Tab amaretto, if desired<\/li>\n<li>1 c fresh blueberries<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Directions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Spray 13&#215;9-inch (3-quart) glass baking dish with cooking spray.<\/li>\n<li>Spread about 1 tablespoon cream cheese on each of 12 bread slices.<\/li>\n<li>Top with remaining bread slices to make 12 sandwiches.<\/li>\n<li>Place sandwiches in baking dish to cover bottom of pan.<\/li>\n<li>In medium bowl, beat eggs.<\/li>\n<li>Add milk, 1\/4 cup sugar, the salt and cinnamon,<\/li>\n<li>Beat well.<\/li>\n<li>Pour over sandwiches in baking dish.<\/li>\n<li>Let stand at room temperature 5 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Turn sandwiches over.<\/li>\n<li>Cover; refrigerate about 8 hours or overnight.<\/li>\n<li>Chop 1 cup of the strawberries. (Refrigerate remaining berries.)<\/li>\n<li>In nonmetal bowl, gently stir together chopped strawberries, 1\/4 cup sugar and the amaretto.<\/li>\n<li>Cover; refrigerate about 8 hours or overnight.<\/li>\n<li>Heat oven to 400\u00b0.<\/li>\n<li>Uncover baking dish; drizzle sandwiches with melted butter.<\/li>\n<li>Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown.<\/li>\n<li>Meanwhile, slice remaining strawberries.<\/li>\n<li>Add with blueberries to chilled strawberry mixture; mix lightly.<\/li>\n<li>Serve French toast with berry topping.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Serves:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>6<\/p>\n<p><strong>Source:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>Betty Crocker<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Breakfast made the night before is never a bad thing!
