{"id":5902,"date":"2018-05-05T15:15:50","date_gmt":"2018-05-05T21:15:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/margie\/?p=5902"},"modified":"2018-05-06T14:53:43","modified_gmt":"2018-05-06T20:53:43","slug":"__trashed-11","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/margie\/__trashed-11.html","title":{"rendered":"Crab &#038; Broccoli Braid"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>The original recipe was made with chicken.\u00a0 We wanted\u00a0to try it with crab &#8211;\u00a0 it worked!\u00a0 The braiding is not as tricky as it looks.<\/em><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"ingredients\">Ingredients:<\/h4>\n<ul class=\"ingredients\">\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1 c crab (about 1 lb )\u00a0 (we use imitation crab)<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">2 c fresh broccoli, finely chopped<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1 c (4 ounces) shredded cheddar cheese (or your favorite)<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">\u00bd c red bell pepper, chopped<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">\u00bd c onion, chopped<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">2 tsp seasoning salt<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">2 garlic cloves, minced<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1 Tab spicy or Dijon mustard<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1\/2 cup regular or light mayonnaise<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">2 tubes (8 ounces each) refrigerated crescent rolls<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1 egg, lightly beaten<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1\/3 c slivered almonds<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"instructions\">\n<h4 class=\"instructions\">Instructions:<\/h4>\n<ol class=\"instructions\">\n<li>Preheat oven to 375\u00b0.<\/li>\n<li>Combine broccoli, crab, bell pepper, onion, cheese, mayonnaise, minced garlic, mustard and seasoning salt.<\/li>\n<li>Mix well.<\/li>\n<li>Unroll one tube of crescent dough onto an ungreased baking sheet or jelly roll pan.<\/li>\n<li>Repeat with second tube to form a 15-in. x 12-in. rectangle.<\/li>\n<li>The two will overlap a bit. Seal seams to form one large rectangle.<\/li>\n<li>Using a sharp knife, cut horizontal strips approximately 2 \u00bd inches long, but 11\/2 inch apart down each side of the crescent dough.<\/li>\n<li>Spoon filling lengthwise down the center third of dough.<\/li>\n<li>To braid, bring one strip from each side over the filling, meet in center and twist each strip once, then seal ends.<\/li>\n<li>Repeat.<\/li>\n<li>When you get to the end of the braid, tuck ends of loaf to seal.<\/li>\n<li>If desired, brush with egg and sprinkle with slivered almonds.<\/li>\n<li>Bake for 25 minutes or until top is golden brown.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"yield\"><span class=\"hrlabel\"><strong>Serves:\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"hritem\">8<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Source:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>Balancing Beauty and Bedlam<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The original recipe was made with chicken.\u00a0 We wanted\u00a0to try it with crab &#8211;\u00a0 it worked!\u00a0 The braiding is not as tricky as it looks.
