For a subtler onion flavor, soak onion slices in cool water, then thoroughly drain before folding into the mayonnaise mixture.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1\/4 c mayonnaise<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 c sour cream<\/li>\n<li>1 Tab white wine vinegar<\/li>\n<li>Coarse salt and freshly ground<\/li>\n<li>pepper<\/li>\n<li>1 lb frozen peas (do not thaw)<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 small red onion, halved lengthwise and thinly sliced (1\/2 c)<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 c packed fresh flat-leaf parsley leaves<\/li>\n<li>4 oz bacon (about 4 slices), chopped<\/li>\n<li>2 oz aged white cheddar, shaved or coarsely grated<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Directions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Whisk together mayonnaise, sour cream, and vinegar in a large bowl.<\/li>\n<li>Season generously with salt and pepper.<\/li>\n<li>Fold in peas, onion, and parsley.<\/li>\n<li>Refrigerate at least 4 hours.<\/li>\n<li>Meanwhile, cook bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until browned and fat is rendered, 8 to 10 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Transfer to paper towels to drain and crisp.<\/li>\n<li>Let salad stand at room temperature for 10 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Gently fold in cheddar and bacon just before serving.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong> Makes:\u00a0<\/strong> 4 cups<br \/>\n<strong>Source:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>marthastewart.com<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Peas straight from the freezer retain their crisp exterior and soft, creamy interior in this simple-to-make salad.
