{"id":604,"date":"2014-09-16T16:24:32","date_gmt":"2014-09-16T22:24:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/margie\/?p=604"},"modified":"2016-02-24T05:14:54","modified_gmt":"2016-02-24T12:14:54","slug":"green-bay-beer-brats","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/margie\/green-bay-beer-brats.html","title":{"rendered":"Green Bay Beer Brats"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Boiling the brats in beer makes a good, good difference.<\/em><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: large\"><b>Ingredients:<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: large\"> 2-3 bratwurst, plain (about 12 inches total)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: large\"> 2-3 bratwurst, smoked (about 12 inches total)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: large\"> 1 c onion, thinly sliced <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: large\"> 24 oz beer<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: large\"> 1 Tab oil or butter<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: large\"> mustard \u2013 German or yellow<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: large\"> 12 hamburger pickle slices quartered <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: large\"> 1 Trader Joe&#8217;s soft pretzel roll or small French roll (about 7 inches long)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: large\"> 2 T ab butter<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: large\"> toothpicks<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: large\"><b>Directions:<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: large\">Bring the beer to a boil.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: large\"> Add the onions and bratwurst.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: large\"> Simmer about 10 &#8211; 12 minutes. (20 \u2013 30 minutes if uncooked).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: large\"> Remove the bratwurst \u2013 save the beer.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: large\"> Brown the bratwurst in butter or oil.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: large\"> Return bratwurst to beer to keep warm.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: large\"> Cut pretzel roll into \u00bd inch slices, then into quarters.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: large\"> Toss cubes with 2 T melted butter.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: large\"> Bake at 450<\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif\"><span style=\"font-size: large\">\u00b0<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: large\"> stirring occasionally, for about 5-7 minutes minutes until toasted, but not hard.
