{"id":6198,"date":"2018-08-15T05:38:17","date_gmt":"2018-08-15T11:38:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/margie\/?p=6198"},"modified":"2018-08-15T05:38:17","modified_gmt":"2018-08-15T11:38:17","slug":"caprese-panino","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/margie\/caprese-panino.html","title":{"rendered":"Caprese Panino"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"LEFT\"><em><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Here&#8217;s a sandwich that&#8217;s a riff on a favorite Italian street food, the delicious and simple caprese panini!<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Ingredients:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: large;\">half a loaf of ciabatta<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: large;\">pesto<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: large;\">1 small really ripe, possibly heirloom tomato, sliced<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: large;\">\u00a0fresh mozzarella, sliced<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: large;\">torn basil leaves<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: large;\">salt<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Directions:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Heat the panini press, if you have one.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Slice the Ciabatta in half lengthwise. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Spread both inside halves with pesto. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Arrange the tomato slices in a single layer on the bottom half of the bread.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Sprinkle it with salt.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Add the mozzarella slices.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Top it with torn basil leaves.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: large;\">A<\/span><span style=\"font-size: large;\">nd finally, the top bread.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: large;\">If you have a panini press, go for it! If not,\u00a0place the sandwich in a grill pan, then use a heavy flat lid to weigh it down.\u00a0 If you have a waffle maker with reversible plates, use the flat side and grill it in the waffle iron.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Grill the sandwich for 3-4 minutes, then flip it and grill it for another 3-4 minutes, or until the cheese starts to melt.
