Polenta\u00a0is a staple of Italian cuisine, whereas\u00a0grits\u00a0are a Southern staple. While polenta\u00a0is made from ground yellow corn,\u00a0grits\u00a0are made from white corn (also called hominy).\u00a0 The most notable difference between the two is in the texture: polenta\u00a0is much coarser, whereas\u00a0grits\u00a0are finer.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>3 1\/4 c milk<\/li>\n<li>1 c quick cooking grits<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp salt, divided<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 tsp ground black pepper, divided<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 c butter<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 c grated white Cheddar<\/li>\n<li>4 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Directions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>In a medium saucepan, bring the milk to a boil over medium-high heat.<\/li>\n<li>Add the grits, 1\/2 teaspoon of the salt, 1\/4 teaspoon of the pepper, and the butter.<\/li>\n<li>Cook and stir frequently, until the grits are soft.<\/li>\n<li>Stir in cheese and bacon.<\/li>\n<li>Set aside and keep warm.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><b>Serve<\/b><b>s:<\/b>\u00a04-5<\/p>\n<section class=\"ingredients\"><strong>Source:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>Paula Deen<\/section>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Did you know that polenta and grits are almost the same thing?
