{"id":6882,"date":"2019-01-21T05:47:02","date_gmt":"2019-01-21T12:47:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/margie\/?p=6882"},"modified":"2019-01-24T11:24:25","modified_gmt":"2019-01-24T18:24:25","slug":"fruit-trifle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/margie\/fruit-trifle.html","title":{"rendered":"Fruit Trifle"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Trifles are wonderful because just about anything goes. \u00a0You can \u00a0vary the fruit, custard, and cake and it is all good.\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><em>It is hard to make a bad trifle.<\/em><\/p>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>3 dz ladyfingers<\/li>\n<li>1 c apricot jam<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 c Whidbey Island Loganberry Liqueur (or other fruit based\u00a0 liqueur)<\/li>\n<li>4 pkg (3.9 oz) instant vanilla pudding<\/li>\n<li>6 c cold milk or even better 1\/2 and 1\/2<\/li>\n<li>1 qt (4 c) whipping cream \u2013 whipped<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 c powdered sugar<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp almond\/vanilla extract<\/li>\n<li>6 \u2013 8 cups fruit \u2013 berries, cherries (frozen), peaches etc.<\/li>\n<li>1 c toasted almond slivers and\/or chocolate shavings<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Directions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Prepare the fruit \u2013 wash, dry, slice, whatever.<\/li>\n<li>Whip the cream.<\/li>\n<li>Add the powdered sugar and extract.<\/li>\n<li>Split the ladyfingers.<\/li>\n<li>Spread with jam.<\/li>\n<li>Put them back together.<\/li>\n<li>Line the bottom of a straight sided glass bowl with half the ladyfingers. \u00a0Make sure they go all the way to the sides of the bowl so they will show when done.<\/li>\n<li>Sprinkle with half the liqueur.<\/li>\n<li>Mix the instant pudding with the milk\/1\/2&amp;12.<\/li>\n<li>Layer half the pudding on the ladyfingers. \u00a0Again, go all the way to the side of the bowl.<\/li>\n<li>Spoon on half the fruit. \u00a0If using berries make sure they are up on the side of the bowl.<\/li>\n<li>Spoon on half the whipped cream.<\/li>\n<li>Place the remainder of the ladyfingers, pudding, fruit and whipped cream in layers in bowl.<\/li>\n<li>Sprinkle the almond and \u00a0chocolate on top.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Serves:<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a030 \u00a0You want a LARGE (like 12 inch) tall glass bowl for this.<\/p>\n<p><b>Source<\/b>: \u00a0<strong>\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>A riff on Sunset Cook Book\u2019s recipe<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Trifles are wonderful because just about anything goes. \u00a0You can \u00a0vary the fruit, custard, and cake and it is all good.\u00a0\u00a0It is hard to make a bad trifle.
