With a crisp crust and rich interior, it&#8217;s a sinful brunch treat.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Filling Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>6 oz. soft cream cheese spread (not the block of cream cheese)<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 c raspberry jam<\/li>\n<li>6 1-inch thick slices of bread (Texas Toast)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>French Toast Batter Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>3 eggs<\/li>\n<li>3\/4 cup milk or cream<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 c sugar<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 tsp salt<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 tsp vanilla<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 tsp cinnamon<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 tsp nutmeg<\/li>\n<li>butter for griddle pan<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Directions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.<\/li>\n<li>Mix the cream cheese and jam with a mixer or spoon until blended together.<\/li>\n<li>Take 2 slices of bread per serving, and spread a thick layer of cream cheese mixture to the center of a slice of bread.<\/li>\n<li>Top with another slice of bread to sandwich the mixture.<\/li>\n<li>Mix ingredients of batter together.<\/li>\n<li>Dip each \u201csandwich\u201d into the batter and let them soak for a minute or two.<\/li>\n<li>Heat a large griddle pan over medium high heat,<\/li>\n<li>Add butter.<\/li>\n<li>Grill until golden on each side.<\/li>\n<li>Transfer to a pan and place in oven, 10-15 minutes, until cooked through and custardy in the middle.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Serves:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>3<\/p>\n<p><strong>Source:<\/strong>\u00a0 Bill Kerfoot &#8211; only his had 60 slices of bread, 3 pounds of cream cheese, a large jar of raspberry jam, 15 eggs, and 1\/2 gallon of milk.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0Pain Perdu\u00a0or &#8220;lost bread&#8221; is the original French Toast from France.
