{"id":7312,"date":"2019-04-25T11:09:34","date_gmt":"2019-04-25T17:09:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/margie\/?p=7312"},"modified":"2019-04-25T11:09:34","modified_gmt":"2019-04-25T17:09:34","slug":"korean-barbecue-beef-skewers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/margie\/korean-barbecue-beef-skewers.html","title":{"rendered":"Korean Barbecue Beef Skewers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>These Korean Barbecue Beef Skewers are made with a super simple marinade and grilled or broiled to perfection with that classic Korean Barbecue-inspired flavor!<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>4 small 3 oz. lean sirloin steaks (12 oz)<\/li>\n<li>1 small onion, finely diced<\/li>\n<li>1\/3 c low sodium soy sauce<\/li>\n<li>1\/3 c brown sugar<\/li>\n<li>1 Tab sesame seeds<\/li>\n<li>2 tsp sesame oil<\/li>\n<li>4 cloves garlic, pressed or finely diced<\/li>\n<li>1 Tab freshly grated ginger (use 2 teaspoons powdered ginger, if desired)<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp sriracha (or less, if serving to children)<\/li>\n<li>2 Tab honey<\/li>\n<li>salt and pepper (if desired)<\/li>\n<li>red pepper flakes, sesame seeds, and sliced green onions for garnish (optional)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Instructions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Soak wooden skewers in water.<\/li>\n<li>Pound the steaks with a meat tenderizer mallet gently until about half an inch thick.<\/li>\n<li>Slice the steaks lengthwise into long strips about 1.5 inches wide.<\/li>\n<li>Thread the steak strips onto metal or wooden skewers (about 2-3 strips per skewer, to make 6 skewers).<\/li>\n<li>Set aside.<\/li>\n<li>In a large, shallow baking dish or container combine the onion, soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame seeds, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, sriracha, honey, and salt and pepper.<\/li>\n<li>Whisk until well combined.<\/li>\n<li>Place the beef skewers in the marinade.<\/li>\n<li>Turn the skewers in the marinade until well coated.<\/li>\n<li>Cover with plastic wrap or a lid and refrigerate for two hours or overnight.<\/li>\n<li>When ready to grill, place the beef skewers on a hot grill or griddle (outdoors or indoors) for no more than 5 minutes per side (it usually takes 5 minutes for the first side and then 3-4 minutes for the second side.<\/li>\n<li>Remove from the grill or griddle and let rest under foil for 5 minutes before serving.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Serves:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>Makes 6 skewers<\/p>\n<p><strong>Source:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>The Busy Baker<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>These Korean Barbecue Beef Skewers are made with a super simple marinade and grilled or broiled to perfection with that classic Korean Barbecue-inspired flavor!
