{"id":753,"date":"2014-09-29T14:50:57","date_gmt":"2014-09-29T20:50:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/margie\/?p=753"},"modified":"2017-01-29T18:11:43","modified_gmt":"2017-01-30T01:11:43","slug":"winter-wassail","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/margie\/winter-wassail.html","title":{"rendered":"Winter Wassail"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"LEFT\"><i>&#8220;Here we go a\u00a0wassailing&#8230;.&#8221;<\/i><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><b>Ingredients:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 gal apple cider<\/li>\n<li>2 c cranberry juice<\/li>\n<li>\u00bd c honey<\/li>\n<li>\u00bd c sugar<\/li>\n<li>2 oranges sliced thick<\/li>\n<li>10 whole cloves<\/li>\n<li>1 apple, peeled and diced<\/li>\n<li>2 Tbs ground allspice<\/li>\n<li>2 Tbs ground ginger<\/li>\n<li>2 Tbs ground nutmeg<\/li>\n<li>3 cinnamon sticks (or 3 Tbs ground cinnamon)<\/li>\n<li>1 c brandy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><b>Directions:<\/b><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Set crock pot to low setting.<\/li>\n<li>Add cider, cranberry juice, honey and sugar, mixing carefully.<\/li>\n<li>As it heats, stir so the honey and sugar dissolve.<\/li>\n<li>Stud the orange with the cloves and place it in the pot.<\/li>\n<li>Add the apple, allspice, ginger, nutmeg.<\/li>\n<li>Break cinnamon in half and add.<\/li>\n<li>Cover and simmer 2 \u2013 4 hours.<\/li>\n<li>Add brandy \u00bd hour before serving.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><b>Serves: <\/b> 35 punch cups<\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><b>Source: <\/b>Patty Washington, About.com<\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">It&#8217;s never a good idea nor a safe idea to drink and drive.
