This is from January 2015, A Taste of San Francisco.\u00a0 <em>If you have never had fried artichokes, you are in for a treat!<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Aioli Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 cup mayonnaise<\/li>\n<li>5 garlic cloves, put through a garlic press<\/li>\n<li>Juice of 1\/2 lemon<\/li>\n<li>1 teaspoon sugar<\/li>\n<li>1 teaspoon Tabasco sauce<\/li>\n<li>Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Directions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Mix all ingredients together and season to taste, may be made 1-2 weeks in advance<\/p>\n<p><strong>Artichoke Hearts Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>2 packages frozen artichoke hearts (may be found at Trader Joes)<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 cup flour<\/li>\n<li>3 large eggs<\/li>\n<li>Salt<\/li>\n<li>Freshly ground black pepper<\/li>\n<li>2 tbsp grated lemon rind<\/li>\n<li>2 cups dry breadcrumbs<\/li>\n<li>2 cups vegetable oil<\/li>\n<li>1 medium lemon, cut into wedges<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Directions:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Rinse frozen artichoke hearts in a strainer under warm running water to defrost.<\/li>\n<li>In a medium skillet, bring 2cups of water to a boil and add 1 tsp salt.<\/li>\n<li>Place artichokes in a single layer in pan and cook, covered, over medium heat, about 3 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Using a pair of tongs, transfer artichoke hearts to a colander.<\/li>\n<li>Let cool slightly.<\/li>\n<li>Blot thoroughly dry with a paper towel.<\/li>\n<li>Place flour in a bowl.<\/li>\n<li>In another bowl, beat eggs with 1 tsp salt and pepper.<\/li>\n<li>In a third bowl, combine lemon rind with breadcrumbs.<\/li>\n<li>Dredge artichoke hearts in flour and shake off excess.<\/li>\n<li>Lightly coat with egg, letting the excess drip off.<\/li>\n<li>Thoroughly coat in breadcrumb mixture.<\/li>\n<li>Arrange in a single layer on a platter lined with waxed paper.<\/li>\n<li>Refrigerate for at least 1 hour to set coating.<\/li>\n<li>In a deep 12-inch skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat.<\/li>\n<li>Fry artichokes on both sides until lightly golden.<\/li>\n<li>Transfer with tongs to paper towels to drain.<\/li>\n<li>To serve, arrange on a large platter and garnish with lemon wedges.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Serves:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>Makes about 1 cup Aioli, and artichokes for 6-8<\/p>\n<p><strong>Source:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>Villa Park Women&#8217;s League Gourmet<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Villa Park Women&#8217;s League Dinners come with tested recipes.
