{"id":785,"date":"2014-10-06T10:58:33","date_gmt":"2014-10-06T16:58:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/margie\/?p=785"},"modified":"2016-02-18T04:53:06","modified_gmt":"2016-02-18T11:53:06","slug":"angels-on-horseback","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/margie\/angels-on-horseback.html","title":{"rendered":"Angels on Horseback"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left\" align=\"CENTER\"><em>Alas, we never tasted these. \u00a0With the Angels all prepared, resting on the counter to be cooked, the cooks went to take a quick shower before the dinner. \u00a0Well . . . \u00a0upon entering the kitchen, they discovered the dog amid a pile of toothpicks on the floor, with a large grin on his face. \u00a0They did not bring the toast rounds.<\/em><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><b>Ingredients:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>12 medium sized raw oysters, shucked and drained<\/li>\n<li>\u00bc c dry white wine<\/li>\n<li>1 clove garlic minced<\/li>\n<li>coarse salt<\/li>\n<li>fresh ground pepper<\/li>\n<li>hot sauce or Tobasco to taste<\/li>\n<li>6 slices lean, thin cut bacon, cut in half<\/li>\n<li>12 toothpicks soaked in water about 10 minutes<\/li>\n<li>12 buttered toast rounds (optional)<\/li>\n<li>lemon wedges<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><b>Directions:<\/b><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Preheat broiler.<\/li>\n<li>Drain oysters.<\/li>\n<li>In a bowl, mix the wine, garlic, salt, pepper and hot sauce together.<\/li>\n<li>Add drained oysters and toss to coat.<\/li>\n<li>Let marinate 20 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Cut bacon in half and cook in a microwave for approximately 1 minute or pan fry until the edges begin to curl but the bacon is still flexible (do not completely cook bacon).<\/li>\n<li>Drain well.<\/li>\n<li>Remove oysters from marinade.<\/li>\n<li>Wrap each oyster in a bacon strip and secure with a damp toothpick, overlapping the bacon approximately 1 inch.<\/li>\n<li>Place the bacon wrapped oysters on a broiler pan.<\/li>\n<li>Cook the oyster and crisp the bacon approximately 5-6 minutes on the first side.<\/li>\n<li>Turn them over and broil another 2-4 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>You may need to turn them once or twice to get a good crispness on all sides.<\/li>\n<li>Serve with the pick or remove the pick and place on toast round.<\/li>\n<li>Serve with lemon wedges.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><b>Serves: <\/b>12 pieces<\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><b>Source: <\/b>whatscookingamerica.net<\/p>\n<p align=\"CENTER\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Alas, we never tasted these. \u00a0With the Angels all prepared, resting on the counter to be cooked, the cooks went to take a quick shower before the dinner. \u00a0Well . . . \u00a0upon entering the kitchen, they discovered the dog amid a pile of toothpicks on the floor, with a large grin on his face. &hellip;
