{"id":8018,"date":"2019-10-29T15:18:08","date_gmt":"2019-10-29T21:18:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/margie\/?p=8018"},"modified":"2019-10-29T15:18:08","modified_gmt":"2019-10-29T21:18:08","slug":"mozzarella-fonduta","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/margie\/mozzarella-fonduta.html","title":{"rendered":"Mozzarella Fonduta"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>A &#8220;sort of&#8221; individual fondue &#8211; appetizer course.\u00a0 Nice change from soup.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>2- \u00a028-oz jar tomato-basil sauce,<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 c chopped fresh basil<\/li>\n<li>8 oz thinly-sliced prosciutto, chopped into 1\/2-inch pieces<\/li>\n<li>2- 7- to 8-oz ball fresh mozzarella, sliced into six 1\/4- to 1\/3-inch-thick slices<\/li>\n<li>Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper<\/li>\n<li>1 1\/4 c (2 ounces) shredded Gruyere<\/li>\n<li>grilled bread<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Directions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>In a small saucepan, bring the tomato-basil sauce and red pepper flakes to a simmer over medium heat.<\/li>\n<li>Cook uncovered until thick, 20 to 25 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the basil.<\/li>\n<li>Preheat the broiler.<\/li>\n<li>Place 8 or 10 , 5-ounce ramekins on a baking sheet.<\/li>\n<li>Divide the sauce equally among the ramekins.<\/li>\n<li>Divide the prosciutto among the ramekins.<\/li>\n<li>Place the slices of mozzarella between 3 paper towels to absorb any excess moisture.<\/li>\n<li>Place the slices of mozzarella on top of the prosciutto.<\/li>\n<li>Season with salt and pepper.<\/li>\n<li>Sprinkle the Gruyere on top.<\/li>\n<li>Broil until the cheese is melted and golden brown, 5 to 8 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Serve with grilled bread.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Serves:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong> 8- 10<\/p>\n<p><strong>Source:\u00a0<\/strong> A Tasty Tour of Italy &#8211; VPWL April 2015<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A &#8220;sort of&#8221; individual fondue &#8211; appetizer course.\u00a0 Nice change from soup.
