It&#8217;s not only a great dessert, it also makes a wonderful gift at Christmastime.&#8221;\u00a0 &#8211; Especially if you make it in a mini bunt pan.\u00a0 Perfect hostess gift!\u00a0 I add cream cheese frosting because I like cream cheese frosting.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients &#8211; Cake:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1\u00a0 box yellow cake mix (I used pecan cake mix)<\/li>\n<li>1 (3 1\/2 ounce) box instant vanilla pudding<\/li>\n<li>4 eggs<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 c oil<\/li>\n<li>3\/4 c whole milk or 3\/4 c 2% low-fat milk<\/li>\n<li>1\u00a0 3\/4\u00a0 fluid oz whiskey<\/li>\n<li>1 c pecans or 1 cup walnuts, chopped<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Ingredients &#8211; Icing:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1\/2 c butter, melted<\/li>\n<li>1 c sugar<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 c whiskey<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Directions &#8211; Cake:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Combine all ingredients and mix for 3 minutes by hand.<\/li>\n<li>Pour into well-greased bundt pan.<\/li>\n<li>Bake for 50-60 minutes at 350 degrees. Toothpick should come out clean.<\/li>\n<li>Leave the cake in the pan.<\/li>\n<li>Using a long toothpick or skewer , poke several holes into cake.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Directions &#8211; Icing:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Combine sugar, whiskey, and butter in small sauce pan.<\/li>\n<li>Cook on stovetop on medium.<\/li>\n<li>Heat until sugar is dissolved and mixture is brown.<\/li>\n<li>Pour 3\/4 of icing onto cake.<\/li>\n<li>Let set 15 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Flip cake onto plate.<\/li>\n<li>Brush remaining icing onto top&amp; sides of cake.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Serves: <\/strong>8 &#8211; 10<\/p>\n<p><b>Source:\u00a0 <\/b>Cookin Katie<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Cream Cheese Frosting<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>This frosting was originally from a Bon Appetit \u00a0but has been tweaked a bit by Margie and Ginger. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>8 oz. cream cheese, room temp.<\/li>\n<li>10 tbsp (1\u00bc sticks) butter, room temp.<\/li>\n<li>\u00bc c spiced rum (or, in this case, whiskey)<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp vanilla extract or paste<\/li>\n<li>4\u00bd\u00a0 c (1 lb) powdered sugar<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Instructions<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Beat cream cheese and butter with an electric mixer in a large bowl until smooth.<\/li>\n<li>Beat in rum and vanilla.<\/li>\n<li>Add powdered sugar (best to do in three additions, beating just until frosting is smooth after each addition; if you overbeat the frosting will become too soft to spread).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Source<\/strong>:\u00a0 <em>Bon Appetit<\/em>, 10\/2007<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;This came from my sister&#8217;s mother-in-law many, many years ago and has been handed down over the years.
