When you combine sweet, delicious peas with bacon, onion and then finish it off a little fresh basil, you have an absolutely amazing side dish. You could even do everything but zapping the peas earlier\u00a0in the day.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 (16 oz) package frozen peas<\/li>\n<li>3 slices bacon, cut into small pieces<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 c chopped onion (about 1\/2 of a medium onion)<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 tsp salt<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 tsp pepper<\/li>\n<li>2 Tab fresh basil, chopped<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Instructions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Place peas in a microwave safe dish.<\/li>\n<li>Add a splash of water.<\/li>\n<li>Cover with plastic wrap.<\/li>\n<li>Microwave on high for 4 minutes, stirring halfway through.<\/li>\n<li>Drain liquid from the peas.<\/li>\n<li>Meanwhile, cook bacon in a medium sized skillet until crispy, over medium heat.<\/li>\n<li>Remove from pan and drain on a paper towel.<\/li>\n<li>Discard all but 2 Tab of the the bacon fat.<\/li>\n<li>Add onion to pan and cook for about 5 minutes, until onion is tender.<\/li>\n<li>Add peas to skillet, stirring to mix with the onion and coat with the bacon fat.<\/li>\n<li>Stir in salt, pepper and the cooked bacon.<\/li>\n<li>Remove from heat and sprinkle the chopped basil over the top.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Serves:\u00a0<\/strong> 6<br \/>\n<strong>Source: <\/strong>lisasdinnertimedish.com<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tired of boring vegetables?\u00a0 Peas are\u00a0 fantastic as the star of a side dish.
