{"id":9666,"date":"2024-07-11T02:38:26","date_gmt":"2024-07-11T08:38:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/margie\/?p=9666"},"modified":"2024-07-11T02:38:26","modified_gmt":"2024-07-11T08:38:26","slug":"poppy-seed-dressing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/margie\/poppy-seed-dressing.html","title":{"rendered":"Poppy Seed Dressing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>You can vary this dressing and make it creamy by adding half a cup of mayonise, sour cream or G<\/em><em>reek yogurt.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Mustard is an emulsifier &#8211; it helps keep the oil from separating from the rest of the ingredients.\u00a0 When I made this with the blender, it became very thick so I stirred in some additional oil by hand.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1\/2 c sugar<\/li>\n<li>2 tsp finely chopped onion<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 tsp salt<\/li>\n<li>1\/3 c lemon juice<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp Dijon mustard<\/li>\n<li>2\/3 c\u00a0 oil<\/li>\n<li>1 Tab poppy seed<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Directions:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Using a hand mixer (or blender or food processor) on low speed, combine sugar, onion, salt, lemon juice and mustard.<\/li>\n<li>Add oil in slow steady stream until well blended.<\/li>\n<li>Add poppy seed.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Servings:<\/strong> 12<\/p>\n<p><strong>Source:\u00a0 <\/strong>Karen Eckardt from the Midway Road Baptist Church (Dallas, TX) cookbook.
