You&#8217;ve been invited to New York, to a meeting of the Fortune 500, where not only will you be there as a peer, but you&#8217;ll actually have the opportunity to give a speech before the assembled,  The movers and shakers of the corporate world will be there to hear you, along with the media.  It&#8217;s, in many ways, a once-in-a-lifetime personal and professional triumph.<\/p>\n<p>And then, the day you&#8217;re to give your speech &#8230; someone hands you a press release, informing you <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/apps\/news?pid=20601087&amp;sid=aExyGTygdEMA&amp;refer=home\" target=\"_blank\">your company has fired your ass<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Talk about bad timing.<\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Imagine being the head of a corporation &#8212; not a huge company, to be sure, but one of some note and importance.
