Normal churchy\/brunchy things in the morning.<\/p>\n

Debated various afternoon entertainments. Finally decided on the zoo<\/a>. Couldn’t find our certainly-renewed ID cards, but went anyway. Discovered that the half of the city not at the Taste of Colorado<\/a> were instead at the zoo. Finally found parking off in the hinterlots.<\/p>\n

Fun time at the zoo. Active animals, incredibly clement weather.<\/p>\n

Ate dinner at Tuscany<\/a>, the restaurant at the Loews Denver. Very chi-chi nice place — but a bit disappointing. Mom’s halibut with lobster pancakes was excellent (I’m told). The wine list was fabulous. On the other hand, Dad and I had a pasta bolognese<\/em> that had an undistinguished sauce and (hand-made) pasta that was tough\/dried out. Margie’s crab pasta was delicate and wonderful — except for the spiced
\ngreens that were unevenly spiced and, at times, overwhelmed the flavor. Kitten had a kid’s dish of pasta (the waitstaff was unable to find their kids menus, but suggested that) that was excellent — tender pasta, a flavorful and spicy marinara — but was served (despite our request and the waitress’ promise to have it brought out as soon as possible) after<\/em> the adults’ entrees were served.<\/p>\n

The consensus was that, on a Sunday of Labor Day weekend, we were being handled by the B-team of both waitstaff and kitchen staff. A shame, because everything seemed like it should be excellent, and so was more disappointing than bad.<\/p>\n

Off home, Kitten crashing in bed, and while Margie soloed some CoH, the ‘rents and I discussed local politics (theirs and ours), and then watched History Detectives<\/a><\/em>, which my Mom had recommended a few days before (think Antiques Roadshow<\/em> with leg work).
