Margie got up, and we’re in that too-warm-for-sheets too-cool-for-no-sheets time of year, so I was wakeful.

Turned out Doyce’s Saturn had “blown up” (figuratively — more like threw a rod) for the last time. We hopped in the cars and drove off to provide succor, a spare vehicle, and a can of Coke Zero. He was duly grateful (almost unseemly so — what, we were going to leave him sitting there, stranded?), and headed off to the office, while we did wrap-up shopping and headed back home.

An hour or so later, we headed out, picked up Kate, and went up to Coors for the VIP Tour that Doyce had arranged. It was actually the third time (or maybe fourth?!) I’ve done the VIP tour, but it both continues to evolve and each guide is a little different (this iteration worked out to about 2½ hours). It’s a great opportunity, should
it ever be offered to you — it is to the regular tour what the regular tour is to walking around the outside of the building reading a brochure.

It was later than expected when we were done, and Doyce still had to do some actual work, so we let him run off and toddled off back to the Consortium, dropping off Kate (indirectly) so she could rescue Doyce’s paycheck from the contracting firm that seems to be unable to actually physically get it to him in a timely fashion.

We ended up driving past the forlorn Saturn at the top of the Kipling onramp multiple times. I felt sadly nostalgic.

We then later met up at Big Bill’s New York Pizza — ironic, taking a New Yorker out for New York pizza, but, hey, I like to take my Italian mom out for Italian food, so go fig — for yummy pizza and conviviality (and a chance to see Kaylee, too). Stan made it down as well, and the two of us (mostly) split a pizza with garlic as one of the toppings — truly inspired and yummy. We got there around 5, in time to grab the big round table — by 5:20p,
the place was pretty much packed. Caveat vorator.

Doyce headed out to go night-time car hunting with Kate and Kaylee, and Stan came along back to our house for coffee and chat.

A fun (as long as it wasn’t your car blowing up) day.

Woke up around 7ish to the phone briefly ringing.
