What If?<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n

A proposal is being floated, quite seriously, to amend the Constitution to allow a rapid replacement of House members in case there was some disaster (such as an anthrax attack) which led to over a quarter of the House being killed.<\/p>\n

Currently, though Senators can be appointed by Governors, Representatives must be replaced by special election. In case of a mass killing, that might cause chaos in the interim. The proposal allows for Representatives to be similarly appointed, for up to 90 days.<\/p>\n

I don’t see anything wrong with that. Do you?<\/p>\n
