Airport Security<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n

Interesting editorial in the Rocky Mountain News <\/i>this a.m. on airport security. Looking at Europe, most of those countries (after having nationalized airports) now have airport corporations in charge of the whole shebang — but with strict governmental standards. This, according to the author of the opinion piece, provides the flexibility to handle changing situations and to fire people who don’t perform better than a civil service arrangement would.<\/p>\n

I don’t know. On paper, it seems reasonable, and certainly the Europeans have more experience at this sort of situation than we do. Still, when it gets down the the profit motive, it’s not clear to me that a money-making enterprise is the best to trust our security to. Nevertheless, it’s worth reading and considering.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
