{"id":10335,"date":"2007-02-14T13:30:09","date_gmt":"2007-02-14T20:30:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/wp\/2007\/02\/14\/to-thee-we-sing-with-our-pcs-on-wifi.html"},"modified":"2007-02-14T13:30:09","modified_gmt":"2007-02-14T20:30:09","slug":"to_thee_we_sing_with_our","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/2007\/02\/14\/to_thee_we_sing_with_our.html","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;To thee we sing with our PCs on WiFi &#8230;&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pomona.edu\" target=\"_blank\">Pomona College<\/a> (my alma mater) made the Top 20 list for PC Magazine&#8217;s evaluation of &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pcmag.com\/article2\/0,1895,2073661,00.asp\" target=\"_blank\">Most Wired Colleges<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Back in the day, we were (for a liberal arts place) pretty progressive, computer-wise.  We had one of the first IBM 4331s released, available for student and faculty use (bear in mind that PCs were just barely toys at the time), and one of my first jobs as Systems Programmer Intern (which was my entre into the whole Computer Biz) was to oversee an upgrade to VM\/SP2 on the new 4341.  There were numerous computer labs around the campus.
