Pat’s in the news again, making big claims for the upcoming Disaster of the Year, as Personally Revealed to him by the Lord Almighty<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Evangelical broadcaster Pat Robertson said Tuesday that God has told him that a terrorist attack on the United States would cause a “mass killing” late in 2007. <\/p>\n

“I’m not necessarily saying it’s going to be nuclear,” he said during his news-and-talk television show “The 700 Club<\/a>” on the Christian Broadcasting Network. “The Lord didn’t say nuclear. But I do believe it will be something like that.” <\/p>\n

Robertson said God told him about the impending tragedy during a recent prayer retreat. <\/p>\n

God also said, he claims, that major cities and possibly millions of people will be affected by the attack, which should take place sometime after September. <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Robertson claims to have a “relatively good track record” as a prophet. While he predicted last year that 2006 would see a tsunami hit the US<\/a>, he claims partial vindication from major storms that flooded New England. <\/p>\n

By which token, the “mass killing” will be proven right if some people, um, get hurt somewhere and are, ah, filled with some sort of, if not terror, apprehension. <\/p>\n

I just realized that I post an awful lot (once every few months, whenever he says something newly egregiously goofy or offensive) about Pat Robertson. I’d refrain, except that for some bizarro reason he seems to be the (self-appointed, or just media-appointed?) spokesperson for Christianity in this country, and … well, damn, somebody<\/em>‘s gotta say, “He’s not my<\/em> religious leader.”<\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
