Just got (a week or two late) my updated United Mileage Plus “Premier” card. Which is both appalling that I travel that much, and kinda cool that I’m One of the Chosen Ones.<\/p>\n

While there’s a whole brochure of all the Cool Stuff it does for me, the two most important things are:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. I get to go through the Elite Premier VIP Poobah short line at airport security (which often isn’t any longer than the Plebeian Steerage line, but, what the hey).<\/li>\n
  2. I get to board first … well, first after First Class and Platinum Diamond-Studded Elite and 5 Million Mile passengers. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    In both of the above, they let Margie and Kitten along with me, the Aura of my Eliteness extending even unto them. I also have my own reservation phone line, get first dibs on Economy Plus seats, priority on upgrades, etc.<\/p>\n

    Looking at the report, I see I flew 28,400 miles on United; 25,000 is the threshold. (You need to do double that to become a Premier Executive — heaven knows what they <\/em>get).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
