We got home about 1 or so this afternoon, after a full and sometimes breakneck weekend.<\/p>\n

Our trip down to the Springs was uneventful — indeed, schedule-dismayingly so.  Though we were on I-25 heading south past Lincoln about 4, we never really hit any traffic before we exited the Interstate.  The remaining southbound COSMIX construction on I-25 didn’t cause us nearly as much grief as we saw heading north.<\/p>\n

The drive up into the mountains was uneventful.  Unlike last year’s snow (in October), the weather all weekend was quite clement, with cloudiness only rolling in as we were leaving Sunday.  It was shirtsleeve weather (for some of us) during the day, light jacket in the evening.<\/p>\n

The place was gorgeous as always, with the aspens in mid-turn.  Nice.<\/p>\n

We were staying in the Lodge this year, along with other bekidded families.  It was a small group going up this time — 35-40 — which was both disappointing and nice.  We had a huge room in the, with three bunk beds out in the main room, and a double-single in a separate room.  The separation in rooms, alas, didn’t keep Kitten from letting us know (repeatedly, for varied reasons) when she had awakened each morning around 6 or so.<\/p>\n

Friday night was mostly ice-breaking and social activities.  Saturday morning the adults had (if they chose) a series of discussion groups on some music, some imagery, a story, and the recent Mother Teresa letter controversy.<\/p>\n

The afternoon was free time.  We did a bit of walking, a bit of reading, and a fun horseback ride (Kitten did great).  Played some games (Boggle, Pictionary), too.<\/p>\n

The evening was the No-Talent Talent Show, which I got tapped to MC.  That went decently well.  I had a lot of fun reciting “The Owl & the Pussycat<\/a>” to Margie, and an amazing array of talent was exhibited by various folks.  Katherine got a bit too much “I want to be Center of Attention Lass” for either of our tastes, which put a bit of irk into the evening — somewhat assuaged by a campfire and s’mores.<\/p>\n

This morning, once we got up, was breakfast, Sunday Mass, and the drive down, which was similarly uneventful, aside from getting about a dozen-plus e-mails from my boss once I was back in Crackberry range.  *sigh*<\/p>\n
