The Speaker’s Corner<\/a> is the bar\/bistro of the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Nashua, New Hampshire.  The food was quite good — I had a nicely garlicky Caesar, a marvelous slab of roast beef, a decent tiramisu, and the wine list was quite respectable.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, as our group of about a dozen or so gathered on the deck (a space not really suited to a large party, based on the furniture, but where they herded us), our waiter took forever<\/em> to get us a first pass on drinks — which were long gone for quite a while by the time he came back to take further drink orders, still longer to place our food orders, which took additional forever to also get a wine menu, and then actually get his attention to order a bottle (we ordered two, just to avoid later delay).  Food came out much later, and it took still longer than that for the wine to actually be poured.<\/p>\n

Granted, there were quite a few of us, and we didn’t all arrive at once.  But, really, truly, Joe-Bob server was one of the slowest folks to provide table service on record, and for most of the meal copped a serious slackertude.<\/p>\n

Of course, we were a large enough group that we got the automatic “tip” added.  And if we didn’t have a sales guy paying for dinner, I would have seriously suggested contesting that. <\/p>\n

Assuming you miss Slacker Boy as your waiter, the Speaker’s Corner is a quite respectable place to stop for a drink or for dinner if you’re in Nashua.  It’s not worth particularly going out of your way to visit, however.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
