So I’ve nattered a lot about the Blogathon and all — but there are a lot of folks I know who blog, who aren’t doing it themselves.  Even people who have done it before.  People I’d love to harrass (or be harassed by) at 3 a.m.<\/p>\n

What’s with that?<\/p>\n

I mean, look at the criteria to do it:<\/p>\n

  1. You have to have a blog<\/strong>.  Though you can start one, for free, just for the ‘Thon.  Ask me how.<\/li>\n
  2. You have to be willing and able to stay up 24 hours<\/strong>.  Pish-tosh.  Haven’t we all put in an all-nighter?  Even recently?  Caffeine, showers, and a brisk walk around the block are your friends.  Anyone can do it.<\/li>\n
  3. You have to be willing to write something once every half hour<\/strong>.  Now, this doesn’t have to be great literature, or profound truths, or even anything more than just a “We are here!  We are here!  We are heeeeere!” sort of ping to the world.  Forty-eight times.  Piece of cake.  Set a timer,   Of course, if you want to write something interesting, or rambling, or creative, or whatever — well, there’s plenty to write about.  But the writing is really the least of the worries.  Just like National Novel Writing Month, “No plot, no problem!”<\/li>\n
  4. You have to have some sort of cause <\/strong>to be a sponsor for.  Yeah, that’s going to be a tough one.  Like there’s a single person I know who doesn’t support, with words at least, some political, social, and\/or charitable cause.  If you’re stumped, look at the list of causes already being blogged for at the ‘Thon.  I guarantee you can find something that folks will support you for.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    So — you need a blog, you need a bit of stamina (and\/or a coffee maker), you need to be able to type, and you need to have something you believe in.<\/p>\n

    Easy-peasy.  We’re not talking having to get into shape or anything.  Anyone reading this can do this thing.<\/em><\/p>\n

    So … why aren’t you <\/em>participating in the Blogathon this year?<\/strong>  Yeah, I mean you<\/em>.  And her<\/em>, too.  And you<\/em>, over there.  And your hubby<\/em>.  And, yeah, you <\/em>can, too.<\/p>\n

    Beats a lot of folks plans for the 28th, I’ll wager.<\/p>\n

    In fact … let me sweeten the pot.<\/p>\n
