{"id":11799,"date":"2008-01-30T18:32:21","date_gmt":"2008-01-31T01:32:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/wp\/2008\/01\/30\/the-new-captain-america.html"},"modified":"2008-01-30T18:32:21","modified_gmt":"2008-01-31T01:32:21","slug":"the_new_captain_america","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/2008\/01\/30\/the_new_captain_america.html","title":{"rendered":"The New Captain America"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With <em>Captain America <\/em>#34, we have the all-new, all-different Captain America.<\/p>\n<p>(SPOILERS below)<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>So Bucky &#8212; the Winter Soldier &#8212; finishes his rehabilitation (in various ways) and becomes Cap.&nbsp; Kinda-sorta.&nbsp; Dorkish kinda costume (it works with the art in this book, but will look goofy to start with elsewhere, and will <em>not <\/em>age well).&nbsp; Yes, he carries a gun.&nbsp; No, he&#8217;s not as strong and fast as Steve Rogers, but he&#8217;s got a cybernetic arm.&nbsp; Oh, and&nbsp;a gun.<\/p>\n<p>Interesting juxtaposition between Bucky&#8217;s tactical, assassin&#8217;s training and Cap&#8217;s full-frontal assault techniques.&nbsp; Interesting mixing him with Black Widow.&nbsp; And interesting twists in the Kronos \/ Red Skull plot line.<\/p>\n<p>A good book.&nbsp; And a reasonable new version of Cap.&nbsp; But &#8230; in this issue at least, there&#8217;s nothing really gained, story-wise, in putting Bucky into a (new) Cap suit.&nbsp; A good book &#8212; but it&#8217;s not Captain America yet.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With Captain America #34, we have the all-new, all-different Captain America.
