The week’s schedule just got accelerated a scosh, as the “HR is going to be expanding and doing tons of interviews imminently so they need to take over the IT management suite” move has gotten pushed up to (wait for it) Friday. Which, in turn, means that I need to pack my stuff today\/tomorrow (and possibly work from the office on Wednesday instead of being at home before my flight). <\/p>\n
And where am I going in leaving my lovely<\/a> corner mini-office on the first floor, where I’ve been since April 2006<\/a>, where I can watch<\/a> the weather and enjoy the isolation and ambiance? <\/p>\n Well, “temporarily” the three IT managers will be timesharing two offices over where HR used to be. Which are two adjoining offices, with a door between them. With windows, yes, but only next to the doors, looking out on the corridors. No external windows at all.<\/p>\n Buried alive … buried alive …<\/em><\/p>\n Both hopefully and annoyingly, this is just an interim move. We’re probably expanding to an extra building in January because of some new work (see above), which will free up more space int he building, and so mean we can move out the crypts into something more reasonable.<\/p>\n Maybe. But, in the meantime, it means I can’t really unpack much of anything. Which makes the crypt (or perhaps an Egyptian tomb) an even better analogy<\/p>\n On the bright side, I won’t be in a “fish bowl” for anyone walking to the front steps, especially when it’s dark out. On the down side, it’s a much more populous area, which means that when I’m on the phone, I’ll need to have my door closed.
