{"id":125,"date":"2003-06-11T11:40:29","date_gmt":"2003-06-11T16:40:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/wp\/?p=125"},"modified":"2003-06-11T11:40:29","modified_gmt":"2003-06-11T16:40:29","slug":"is_this_going_t","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/2003\/06\/11\/is_this_going_t.html","title":{"rendered":"Is this going to get me in trouble?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A <a title=\"UCR News: News Release\" href=\"http:\/\/www.newsroom.ucr.edu\/cgi-bin\/display.cgi?id=611\">new study<\/a> shows that husbands doing housework has (choke) some positive benefits for kids:<\/p>\n<p class=\"block\">Sociologists Scott Coltrane and Michele Adams of the University of California, Riverside, looked at national survey data and found that school-aged children who do housework with their fathers are more likely to get along with their peers and have more friends. What\u2019s more, they are less likely than other kids to disobey teachers or make trouble at school and are less depressed or withdrawn. <br \/>\n\u201cWhen men perform domestic service for others, it teaches children cooperation and democratic family values,\u201d said Coltrane, who studies the changing role of fathers in families.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, it has some, ah, benefits to those same hubbies, too.<\/p>\n<p class=\"block\">According to research conducted in the \u201clove labs\u201d of Dr. John Gottman at the University of Washington, when men contribute more domestic labor, their wives may be more likely to get \u201cin the mood.\u201d Coltrane said wives may be less stressed over balancing work and home.
