{"id":12672,"date":"2008-02-28T08:51:18","date_gmt":"2008-02-28T15:51:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/wp\/2008\/02\/28\/google-does-the-wiki.html"},"modified":"2008-02-28T08:51:18","modified_gmt":"2008-02-28T15:51:18","slug":"google_does_the_wiki","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/2008\/02\/28\/google_does_the_wiki.html","title":{"rendered":"Google does the Wiki"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Google has relaunched their JotSpots acquisition as <a href=\"http:\/\/sites.google.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Google Sites<\/a>, Google is framing it as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.informationweek.com\/software\/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=206900666&amp;cid=RSSfeed_IWK_News\" target=\"_blank\">a collaborative website \/ portal tool, something &#8220;bigger than a wiki.&#8221;<\/a>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"articleBody\"><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span id=\"articleBody\"><\/p>\n<p>With the elimination of the twee terminology, what remains is an application for quickly and easily designing group-editable Web sites. Google Sites users can put up Web sites in minutes and can, without any advanced technical skills, post a variety of files including calendars, text, spreadsheets, and videos for private, group, or public viewing and editing.<\/p>\n<p>Google Sites won&#8217;t please demanding Web designers. There&#8217;s no way to add CSS style sheets and the existing design templates are functional but not elegant.
