Yeah, probably.<\/p>\n<p>Are more boys than girls going to choose toy guns (do they still sell toy guns?)? Probably so.<\/p>\n<p>So, then, why the concern if they aren&#39;t explicitly labeled as &quot;boy toys&quot; vs &quot;girl toys&quot;?<\/p>\n<p>And if a girl wants some Marvel action figures, should she be discouraged from doing so by having a big &quot;BOYS&quot; sign?  If a boy thinks My Little Ponies rock, should his friends (or their parents) skip over it as a gift because they are in the &quot;GIRLS&quot; aisle?<\/p>\n<p>The point of this sort of thing isn&#39;t to erase whatever differences may actually be there. It&#39;s to not artificially impose those difference and let the power of the (if I may call it such) <b>market<\/b> let people of whatever gender find whatever gives them joy.<\/p>\n<p>You know. <b>Pursuing happiness.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>I&#39;m not sure why that&#39;s not a conservative value.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"sm2wpreshared\">Originally shared by <a href='https:\/\/plus.google.com\/101083456815352083930'>+Paul Heimann<\/a>:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>I expected there would be backlash.  I didn&#39;t expect it would be this bizarre.<\/p>\n<p>But thus, the point is proven again that Conservatives defend whatever happens to be the status quo, even if it&#39;s actually something new, over what is more traditional, and often times, beneficial.  Gendered toys are a pretty recent phenomenon, promoted by toy companies so they could sell more stuff.  Is there anything gendered about a hoolahoop or a squirt gun?  There is if you put Frozen princesses or Iron Man on them&#8211;though even then, they&#39;re only gendered as a marketing contrivance.
