{"id":127890,"date":"2015-09-05T05:53:39","date_gmt":"2015-09-05T11:53:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/2015\/09\/05\/reminiscing-about-the-x-15.html"},"modified":"2015-09-10T09:52:42","modified_gmt":"2015-09-10T15:52:42","slug":"reminiscing-about-the-x-15","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/2015\/09\/05\/reminiscing-about-the-x-15.html","title":{"rendered":"Reminiscing about the X-15"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>No, not <i>that<\/i> X-15. <i>This<\/i> X-15 &#8212; a tricycle from Mattel in the early 60s (named after the famous test aircraft, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/North_American_X-15\">https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/North_American_X-15<\/a>).  I actually had one of these as a kid, and it was awesome. There was a &quot;vroom&quot; sound effect when the front wheel was turned, and the joystick actually moved the rear wheels for purposes of steering.<\/p>\n<p>Actually, it was heavy as sin (all metal construction), and the steering was a lot more difficult than a normal trike, but <i>damn<\/i> it was cool.<\/p>\n<p>I had mine when I was in the 1st Grade, based on where I remember playing with it. I have no idea what happened to it &#8212; I&#39;m not sure it made the move with us from Northern to Southern California.
