Heard a brand new GOP excuse this week: that the presidential election is getting so nasty that it would be disrespectful of the office of Supreme Court justice to hold a confirmation hearing in the middle of such political smear campaigns and the like, so we should wait until next year when, one presumes, politics will return to puppies and unicorns.<\/p>\n<p>2. The Judicial Crisis Network was founded as the Judicial <i>Confirmation<\/i> Network, with its stated mission to ensure that &quot;the confirmation process for all judicial nominees is fair and that every nominee sent to the full senate receives an up or down vote.&quot; Of course, it was founded during the Bush Administration.
