Just as from certain perspectives all Christians get lumped under one identity, it's too easy to lump all Evangelical Christians under one identity as well. And it looks like banking on that has been a serious miscalculation of the Cruz campaign. <\/p>\n

Ted Cruz's play based on standard culture war tropes has been met with skepticism from some who have heard it all before, mistrust from folk who see less-than-savory behavior from the Cruz campaign, and a shrug from those evangelicals who are most afraid that they are losing the nation and are turning to Trump's populist jingoism as an emotional response.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
