{"id":13036,"date":"2008-08-11T18:28:14","date_gmt":"2008-08-12T01:28:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/wp\/2008\/08\/11\/a-sign-that-something-is-not-quite-right.html"},"modified":"2008-08-11T18:28:14","modified_gmt":"2008-08-12T01:28:14","slug":"a_sign_that_something_is","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/2008\/08\/11\/a_sign_that_something_is.html","title":{"rendered":"A sign that something is not quite right"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When&nbsp;the trains seem to be arriving and merging in an odd schedule.<\/p>\n<p>When the train stops at a train signal that is never, ever red.<\/p>\n<p>When the train stops in mid track, between stations.<\/p>\n<p>When the train starts again, then brakes to a halt a few seconds later.<\/p>\n<p>When the train sits there for several minutes.<\/p>\n<p>When the train starts up again and goes to the next station.<\/p>\n<p>When the train leaves that station, goes a few hundred yards, then stops again.<\/p>\n<p>When the train motor audibly stops.<\/p>\n<p>When the lights on the train go out.<\/p>\n<p>And then start up again.<\/p>\n<p>When someone in an RTD uniform goes trotting down the tracks from the front of the train to the back, and then back again.<\/p>\n<p>When the train starts up slowly.<\/p>\n<p>When you noticed that, even though your train was stopped for several minutes, very few trains passed by the other direction.<\/p>\n<p>(According to the &#8220;Attention!&#8221; marquee at my final stop, there was an electrical\/power problem at I-25 and Broadway, delaying service for, yes, about 15-20 minutes. Which I&#8217;m sure has all the New Yorkers and Londoners in the audience rolling their eyes at my breathless tale-telling, but it&#8217;s the first malfunction or problem I&#8217;ve run into on the LTR since I started taking it.)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When&nbsp;the trains seem to be arriving and merging in an odd schedule.
