And I include the Hypno-Hustler and <i>Secret War 2<\/i> in that category.<\/p>\n<p><i>If,<\/i> as it seems (see more with Marvel executive editor Tom Brevoort on all of this here: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/life\/2016\/05\/25\/captain-america-comic-book-reveal\/84896522\/\">http:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/life\/2016\/05\/25\/captain-america-comic-book-reveal\/84896522\/<\/a>), this is actually, really, truly intended to be a fully-retconned-to-the-1930s edgy updating of Steve Rogers to have always been an Hydra agent, to reflect the <i>zeitgeist<\/i> of the Trump era or something like that, and that, yes, for the last 60 years everything Cap has done has been as a closet devotee of Hydra, whether it was punching Hitler in the face or punching the Red Skull in the face or punching Baron Zemo in the face, or <i>punching Hydra agents in the face,<\/i> it goes beyond anything that DC did (and is now apparently retracting) with their <i>New 52<\/i> big hero tear-down.<\/p>\n<p>And that leaves aside (a) the nastiness making the creation of two Jewish comics creators (Joe Simon and Jack Kirby), who were explicitly creating an opponent to the Axis powers, into a Hydra agent, and (b) the silliness of blowing the image \/ good-will built up about the character in the most recent <i>Captain America<\/i> movie[1] &#8212; it <i>still<\/i> remains just a triumph of &quot;shock value&quot; over &quot;good story telling.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>We will see.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;-<\/p>\n<p>[1] I can&#39;t imagine it will benefit movie sales, if nothing else.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"sm2wp\"><p>\n<a style='display:inline;' href='http:\/\/www.themarysue.com\/say-no-to-hydra-cap\/'><br \/>\n<img src='https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/proxy\/S8F5DMjLeu_EtsLrw8zX8iXfi8VrGVqc872GPjcA0qDaCJjIIINI_tXhMGcNxWSMh8wYDgqwnaX66JGqI7bWJdVOqC71kOIO76m7TlYCYCEf=w506-h910' border='0' style='max-width:650px;'\/><br \/>\n<\/a><br \/>\n<span style='font-size:large;'><a href='http:\/\/www.themarysue.com\/say-no-to-hydra-cap\/'>Comics Fans Respond to Captain America&rsquo;s &ldquo;Big Secret&rdquo;<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span style='font-size:small;'><a href='https:\/\/plus.google.com\/+DaveHill47\/posts\/Z1nWQiqxXcx'>View on Google+<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So, assuming this isn&#39;t some temporary brainwashing or quirk from the recent Cosmic Cube zaniness, this is probably the stupidest idea that Marvel has ever had.
