It's no coincidence that so many billionaires (yes, with a "b") are in Trump's cabinet.<\/p>\n

“A newspaper criticized me and said, ‘Why can’t they have people of modest means?' Because I want people that made a fortune! Because now they are negotiating [for] you, OK?… It’s no different than a great baseball player or a great golfer.”<\/i><\/p>\n

See, if you Make Lots Of Money, then you're automatically an expert in how to govern, on policies that affect all citizens (not to mention the world), and you certainly understand the important things in life and government and the country. Like money. And it's just like great basketball players always make the best basketball coaches, or great golfers automatically go on to high office in the PGA.<\/p>\n

Maybe we should just put those people into leadership permanently!¹ We could call it an aristocracy<\/i> or an oligarchy,<\/i> or (my favorite) a plutocracy,<\/i> and dispense with all those crazy "election" things. We could install them as the "Duke of Oil and Gas" or the "Earl of Maximizing Profits" or the "Baronness of Religious Education." I mean, if they've "made a fortune,"² they know what's best for them<\/del> their friends<\/del> the nation more than some namby-pamby "modest" person who was probably just a community organizer or a haberdasher. Amirite?<\/p>\n

¹ And, yes, I fully understand that, de facto,<\/i> wealth equals power, including in this country. But to have the President of the United States actually state that as policy? That's not normal.<\/p>\n
