Good Lord — I had no idea Bernard Fox was still alive, but I'm still sorry to hear about his passing. Three roles of his that always come to mind:<\/p>\n

1. Colonel Crittendon on Hogan's Heroes.<\/i><\/p>\n

2. Doctor Bombay on Bewitched.<\/i><\/p>\n

3. Captain Winston Havlock in The Mummy.<\/i><\/p>\n

In all cases, he played an uber-English, sometimes pompous, witty\/jovial, stereotype of the stiff-upper-lip British Empire type. That was true as well with so many of his one-off roles spanning the 50s-80s. He was big, over the top, and therefore memorable.<\/p>\n

Thank you, sah (snap one of those open-hand Brit salutes) for many ripping hours of jolly good fun, eh, wot?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
