— Alexander Acostsa, as Secretary of Labor (after your previous nominee dropped out a few weeks back)
— Robert Lighthizer as US Trade Rep

Of those, hearing dates haven't even been scheduled for most; Coats had his hearing on 2\/28.<\/p>\n

Everyone else you nominated at a cabinet-level position has been approved.<\/p>\n

Doesn't sound like you're being picked on, Donald. Maybe you should be kvetching to Mitch McConnell instead. Because it only takes a majority vote in Senate to get someone approved. And the GOP apparently have that in the US Senate, right?<\/p>\n

And then there was The Great Projection:<\/p>\n

Um … nobody's saying that talking to Vladimir Putin is a sin, Donald. <\/p>\n

People are saying that, given US intelligence conclusions that the Russian government interfered with the US Election in 2016 in order to elect you, that any contacts between your campaign and Russia are certainly open to question.<\/p>\n

And people are saying, "Hey, why do Trump campaign folk keep denying they ever talked to anyone from the Russian government or in Vladimir Putin's circle, and then it keeps turning out that they actually did?"<\/p>\n

Is anyone suggesting that Senator Schumer has been conspiring with Russia? Anyone suggesting the Russian government was conspiring to elect Senator Schumer, or someone Senator Schumer likes?<\/p>\n

Has Senator Schumer lied about — or not remembered — being with Vladimir Putin?<\/p>\n

Or, as Senator Schumer tweeted back, "Happily talk re: my contact w Mr. Putin & his associates, took place in '03 in full view of press & public under oath. Would you &your team?"<\/i> [6]<\/p>\n

Somehow, I really don't see the connection you're trying to make here, Donald.<\/p>\n

► I hear by demand a second investigation, after Schumer, of Pelosi for her close ties to Russia, and lying about it.<\/i><\/b> [5]<\/p>\n

First off, Donald, it's "hereby". Just saying.<\/p>\n

Second — well, Pelosi's answer that she hadn't met the Russian Ambassador was as potentially goofy \/ difficult to believe as, well, Jeff Sessions'.[7]<\/p>\n

Of course, again, nobody is arguing that Pelosi has been conspiring with Russian officials to change an election.<\/p>\n

And Pelosi was meeting with the Russian Ambassador with a bunch of fellow politicians, including Republicans.<\/p>\n

And, of course, Pelosi's denial of recollecting meeting with the Russian Ambassador was in response to a press question, not in prepared testimony under oath as, say, Sessions was.<\/p>\n

You're being silly, Donald. Mean, but also silly.<\/p>\n

► The first meeting Jeff Sessions had with the Russian Amb was set up by the Obama Administration under education program for 100 Ambs……<\/i><\/b> [12]<\/p>\n

Yes, that's correct (or presumably correct; it had always been reported that it was a meeting with other ambassadors). <\/p>\n

But the problem isn't that it happened, but that Sessions conveniently forgot about it, or thought it didn't apply, or didn't want to answer accurately the question under oath.<\/p>\n

And, of course, the second<\/i> meeting he had was in private. Which Sessions also conveniently did not testify about.[13]<\/p>\n

'One of the meetings was a private conversation between Sessions and Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak that took place in September in the senator’s office, at the height of what U.S. intelligence officials say was a Russian cyber campaign to upend the U.S. presidential race.'<\/i><\/p>\n

'Sergey Kislyak, the Russian ambassador, is considered by US intelligence to be one of Russia's top spies and spy-recruiters in Washington, according to current and former senior US government officials. Russian officials dispute this characterization.'<\/i><\/p>\n

Again, lots of people meet the ambassador. Not many of the fail to disclose that under oath before the US Senate.<\/p>\n

► Just out: The same Russian Ambassador that met Jeff Sessions visited the Obama White House 22 times, and 4 times last year alone.<\/i><\/b> [15]<\/p>\n

Well, yes, he was the Russian Ambassador. One would presume he did.<\/p>\n

But the Obama White House hasn't denied that, have they? They haven't conveniently forgotten ever meeting him, or decided which were meetings that they needed to disclose, or simply lied about it, all under oath?<\/p>\n

And nobody is suggesting that the Obama Administration was conspiring to throw the election with the Russians. In which case you can be sure that the media would<\/i> be reporting on the number of times the Russian Ambassador was at the White House.<\/p>\n

And then things got … weird …<\/p>\n

► Terrible! Just found out that Obama had my "wires tapped" in Trump Tower just before the victory. Nothing found. This is McCarthyism!<\/i><\/b> [14]<\/p>\n

► Is it legal for a sitting President to be "wire tapping" a race for president prior to an election? Turned down by court earlier. A NEW LOW!<\/i><\/b> [16]<\/p>\n

► I'd bet a good lawyer could make a great case out of the fact that President Obama was tapping my phones in October, just prior to Election!<\/i><\/b> [17]<\/p>\n

► How low has President Obama gone to tapp my phones during the very sacred election process. This is Nixon\/Watergate. Bad (or sick) guy!<\/i><\/b> [18]<\/p>\n

Note that these weren't all consecutive — one of the Sessions tweets was incongruously thrown into this stream of conscience. Because that's just as important as accusing the previous President of wiretapping you and your campaign for malevolent political ends.<\/p>\n

Well, those are remarkable charges, Donald. Scandalous. Even a political and constitutional crisis. And the evidence you presented for this, Donald?<\/p>\n

Yeah, those are cricket chirps. And a distinct lack of links to anything, let alone reports from the FBI or federal law enforcement.<\/p>\n

Oh, wait … you've been reading Breitbart of all places?[22] Quoting Mark Levin, of all people? Making vague accusations and occasionally noting things that were … already public (and legal)?[23] <\/p>\n

And for that you foment some sort of National Constitutional Crisis? (Especially one that somehow, magically, failed?<\/i> Because, as we all know, you are<\/i> in fact the President now.)<\/p>\n

Former Obama Administration officials were having none of it. [21]<\/p>\n

'One former senior law enforcement official who worked under Mr. Obama said that it was “100 percent untrue” that the government had wiretapped Mr. Trump, and that the current president should be pressed to offer any evidence for his assertion.<\/i><\/p>\n

I know that Step 3 in the How To Deal With A Crisis Handbook is "Distract them with a Different Crisis" and that Step 4 is "Accuse The Other Guys of Shenanigans That Are Just As Bad" … but, jeez, Donald, you could at least try to be convincing about it before starting up yet another smear campaign.<\/p>\n

You could also show that you are taking it seriously with all the power of your office.<\/p>\n

'The White House did not respond to a request to elaborate on Trump's accusations. A Trump spokeswoman said the Republican president is "having meetings, making phone calls and hitting balls" at his golf course in West Palm Beach.'<\/i> [24]<\/p>\n

Gee, remember when golfing during a crisis was seen as a sign of being a bad president?[25] Those were the days, Donald.<\/p>\n

Which doesn't mean I want my federal tax dollars going to the Catholic Church. Or anyone else's.<\/p>\n
