{"id":13298,"date":"2009-01-26T17:52:06","date_gmt":"2009-01-27T00:52:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/wp\/2009\/01\/26\/state-of-the-tourism-logo.html"},"modified":"2009-01-26T17:52:06","modified_gmt":"2009-01-27T00:52:06","slug":"state_of_the_tourism_logo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/2009\/01\/26\/state_of_the_tourism_logo.html","title":{"rendered":"State of the Tourism Logo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I must not read enough travel magazines, because I didn&#8217;t recognize any of <a href=\"http:\/\/buildinternet.com\/2008\/12\/branding-the-united-states-the-50-state-tourism-logos\/\" target=\"_blank\">these state tourism board logos<\/a> except for the iconic New York one. I certainly never heard of my own state&#8217;s (&#8220;Let&#8217;s Talk Colorado&#8221;?).<\/p>\n<p>In general, not many of them stand out. I find I like the ones that simply render the state name in an evocative typeface and decor &#8212; most of the mottos are goofy and distract from the overall image. Some of them &#8212; Missouri, Texas, Alaska, Georgia&nbsp;&#8212; invoke aspects of the state quite nicely. Others are simply fancy lettering. Oregon is probably the most clever. Nevada seems to be more interested in telling people how to pronounce their state&#8217;s name.<\/p>\n<p>The&nbsp;biggest down side is that I&#8217;m pretty sure each of these state tourism boards spent many, many tax dollars coming up with these things.
