The plane was due to be phased out by a close air support version of the theoretically jack-of-all-trades F-35. Then, as the F-35 program extended out due to widespread technical problems, the Air Force okayed continued deployment of the A-10 for longer.<\/p>\n<p>Except it didn&#39;t check to see what support the A-10 would need, and didn&#39;t order nearly enough replacement wings as that plane&#39;s parts reach end-of-life.<\/p>\n<p>The result, apparently, will be a grounding of up to a third of the A-10s prior to the F-35&#39;s CAS version coming online.
