{"id":134872,"date":"2017-10-01T21:56:05","date_gmt":"2017-10-02T03:56:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/?p=134872"},"modified":"2017-10-01T23:46:25","modified_gmt":"2017-10-02T05:46:25","slug":"marvels-inhumans-lived-trailer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/2017\/10\/01\/marvels-inhumans-lived-trailer.html","title":{"rendered":"So &#8220;Marvel&#8217;s Inhumans&#8221; lived up to its trailer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As in, it was lifeless, low-budget, and far less interesting than it should have been.<\/p>\n<p>While the comics geek in me loved Lockjaw and having Attilan on the Moon (albeit with artificial Earth-level gravity and everyone knowing how to speak English), the rest of the show was massively disappointing, ponderous, and unable to truly inspire any sense of menace, tension, or, frankly, interest.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Okay, Karnak and Gorgon were both pretty cool, esp. their interaction together. So, of course, they are immediately separated (and Karnak nerfed).<\/li>\n<li>Apparently the Medusa hair FX cost money, so we got to see her hair doing things, um, I think it was twice over two hours. Then the problem and need for FX was removed. Of course.<\/li>\n<li>Apparently a city full of Inhumans also is expensive, so they settled for a handful of facial prosthetics that were dubious when Star Trek TNG was in production, and minimal powers on display. Terragenesis is a lot quicker and easier amongst the Inhumans of Attilan than in their <i>Agents of SHIELD<\/i> Earthly brethren, but the results are a <i>lot<\/i> less interesting.<\/li>\n<li>Black Bolt was kind of cool in terms of watching him overcome his self-imposed silence. But it was still sort of gimmicky, and wore thin by the end.<\/li>\n<li>Crystal&#8217;s hair decor is black paint? (Shakes head sadly.)<\/li>\n<li>And, apparently, the whole series is about Maximus launching a coup and the Royal Family attempting to overthrow him back. Which might almost be interesting if we had any reason to give a fig about reestablishing the Royal Family, or thinking that Maximus (here a Poor Man&#8217;s Loki) were not as good a ruler as Black Bolt, or &#8230; whatever.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>On the other hand, Lockjaw!<\/p>\n<p>Who was pretty quickly nerfed out of the game.<\/p>\n<p>Sigh.<\/p>\n<p>Will we watch more?
