Because movie trailers are half (well, maybe a smaller fraction) of the reason to go see movies in the theater.<\/p>\n

Thor: Ragnarok<\/i> had some odd trailers packaged with it when we saw it on Friday.<\/p>\n

Coco<\/i><\/b> — This was actually more of a featurette. This looks like it’s going to be gorgeous, though I’m not so dedicated as to schedule a trip to the theater to see it, more “let’s stream it later”. [http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt2380307\/<\/a>]<\/p>\n

Wonder<\/i><\/b> — The only one of the three films I know of this year with that word in the title but not involving a comic book. This one looks like the feel-good “kid overcomes disfiguring handicap with the help of his beautiful parents and people turning out to be good after all” film of this fall. Very inspirational (and some remarkable makeup work), but not my cuppa. [http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt2543472\/<\/a>]<\/p>\n

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle<\/b>_ — I was all prepared to really dislike this film, but the trailer looks like a hoot-and-a-half. Definitely on my home watch list. http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt2283362\/<\/a><\/p>\n

Downsizing<\/b><\/em>\u00a0— A weird SF comedy about a process that shrinks people to a really tiny size and how that works really well for retirement, except when hilarity ensues or social consciousness gets raised. This could either be a hit or a horrifyingly bad flop. [http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt1389072\/<\/a>]<\/p>\n

Pacific Rim: Uprising<\/b><\/em>\u00a0— I have no idea what this movie is about except it has kaiju<\/i> and giant mecha and they’re all fighting each other and tearing up cities and some of the cast seems very quirky. I very much enjoyed the first PR film; not sure about this one. [http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt2557478\/<\/a>]<\/p>\n

12 Strong<\/i><\/b> — War is hell. Also inspirational. Also, apparently, full of horribly cliched dialog. A tale of a post-9\/11 US special forces operation against the Taliban, starring (on the up side) Chris Hemsworth. Pass. [http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt1413492\/<\/a>]<\/p>\n

New Mutants<\/i><\/b> — I had no idea that this horror movie was about the Marvel team of young mutants until the title came up at the end of the trailer. I still have no idea that it is, since nothing about it shouted “New Mutants” to me. I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing. I await more word on the buzz around this one. [http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt4682266\/<\/a>]<\/p>\n

Black Panther<\/i><\/b> — This looks pretty damned good. I’m in. [http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt1825683\/<\/a>]<\/p>\n
