I would comment about some people having way too much time on their hands in creating their compilations of places where the various canonical Star Trek <\/em>TV shows and movies have contradicted themselves<\/a> … but once upon a time, I was just that sort of person, only without the Internet and YouTube to help me along.<\/p>\n Some number of errors are nearly inevitable with a franchise this sprawling across time, space, writing staff and production (especially if you pull in The Original Series). But many of them are just about sloppy writing, trying to come up with a cheap laugh or a lazy shortcut without thinking of the implications (let alone worrying whether it contradicted what came before). Can Data-style androids really <\/em>be detected across planetary distances? For that matter, is Data really bullet<\/em>-proof (but not arrow<\/em>-proof) and phaser stun-proof (except when it’s convenient for him to be held at bay by someone with a phaser). Can a ship actually go over Warp 10 (new or old style measuring)?
