It&#8217;s not going to win any awards, but it&#8217;s smart, expensively done, and both definitely &#8220;Lost in Space&#8221; and definitely with lots of new twists.<\/p>\n<p>They&#8217;re definitely playing a long game in introducing the backstory and the characters and their pre-existing relationships &#8212; but having watched the first ep, I&#8217;m definitely interested in more.<\/p>\n<p>Reading some of the <a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/ZhzdRR\">critical reviews<\/a>, there&#8217;s a weird disconnect as to what the original show was about. They seem to remember only the camp Smith-Robot-Will goofiness, not remembering that the show started as a high-tech, straightforward survival adventure in the literal vein of the Swiss Family Robinson. The zaniness really only came out in the 2nd (color) and subsequent seasons, and, frankly, I never really cared for that stuff. I loved the adventure. I hated the comedy.<\/p>\n<p>The reviews do (some of them) have the advantage of having gone through the full series, so some of the criticism may turn out to be more valid.
