Ted Cruz criticized his disturbingly-close-in-the-polls Democrat rival for calling for the firing of Dallas PD officer Amber Guyger.<\/p>\n

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) criticized Rep. Beto O'Rourke (D-Texas) for saying a Dallas police officer who fatally shot an unarmed man in his own apartment should be fired, adding that he wished his challenger and other Democrats "weren’t so quick to always blame the police officer."<\/i><\/p>\n

“It’s possible what happened was a horrifying and horrific misunderstanding, or it may be something else," Cruz told Fox 26 Houston in an interview aired on Sunday. "And that’s why we have a legal justice system, to actually learn what the facts are and learn what happened. I wish Beto O’Rourke and Democrats weren’t so quick to always blame the police officer, always attack the police officer."<\/i><\/p>\n

We will leave aside whatever number of times that Sen. Cruz has not waited for legal proceedings before rendering a judgment as to whether someone ought to hang for the crime. I simply note that based on even what Office Guyger has said,<\/i> how it could possibly not<\/i> be a firing offense to "accidentally" enter the wrong apartment and shoot someone there who she thought was an intruder.<\/p>\n

Might it have been a "horrifying and horrific misunderstanding" (the least awful interpretation of what happened)? Certainly. That's problematic based on some other information from Officer Guyger, but, hey, let's say that's the case.<\/p>\n

Isn't walking into the wrong<\/i> apartment and using one's service firearm<\/i> to incorrectly<\/i> shoot a person there within the bounds of "Yeah, I think she shouldn't be trusted to be a cop" territory? At the very least?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
